When you think of shopping at Costco, you probably think of giant packs of toilet paper or industrial-sized jars of peanut butter. It’s great to shop for these household items there because you can to save money and have a large stock at home so you don’t run out.
But Costco offers more than just basic deals. In fact, some of the best savings the warehouse club has to offer can be found on products you might never have thought to buy there. Just check out these three Costco items you probably don’t buy but could score you some incredible deals.
1. Gift cards from other merchants
Gift cards are very easy to forget in the huge warehouse club, but if you don’t check them regularly on your Costco visits, you are missing something. Since June 22, 2024, you can benefit from incredible offers, including:
A $500 Southwest Airlines Gift Card for just $449.99
$100 in Spafinder gift cards, valid at salons and spas nationwide, for $79.99
$100 in Domino’s Pizza Gift Cards for $79.99
These are just a few of the many deals available at Costco. By checking regularly for gift cards, you can lower your credit card bills by getting deals even outside of the warehouse club. Just keep in mind that Costco occasionally places limits on gift card purchases: for example, each member can buy up to five Southwest Airlines gift cards in a single transaction.
2. Orders
Costco offers great deals on prescription drugs for you and your family. And your pet. You can participate in the Costco Member Prescription Program if you don’t have insurance to cover medications. This would save you up to 80% on prescription medications. Costco pharmacists will even work with you to find the cheapest deals.
Even if you TO DO have insurance coverage, Costco always offers cheaper deals with lower co-pays. For example, the blood pressure medication metoprolol tartrate (a generic of Lopressor) costs $13.99 for 180 25 mg tablets from Costco, while the same medication costs $24.99 from Walgreens.
If you take prescription medications, there is very little reason to overpay for them when you can check out Costco Pharmacy and most likely get a good deal.
3. Holidays
Costco has some amazing holiday deals that can save you a lot of money. For example, it is possible to get a vacation package at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Costco’s price for an ocean view room with two adults is $2,036.84 for a stay July 21-26, 2024, and includes:
A $120 Costco digital shopping card
$150 resort credit per room, per stay
Mandatory daily resort fee of $50 included
The same room costs $2,145 when booked directly with the hotel, and it doesn’t come with resort credit or Costco store card. And if you signed up for Costco’s Executive Membership, you’ll also get 2% off your trip, saving you even more.
As you can see, if you’re not buying medications, vacations, and gift cards at Costco, you’re leaving money on the table. Fix this problem by checking these items the next time you visit the warehouse.
