THE United States Federal Trade Commission is about to suspend its internal trial against Microsoft Corp.the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard Inc.opening the door to possible settlement negotiations, people familiar with the matter said.
The step is a win for Microsoft and Activision as they seek to seal the biggest gaming deal ever despite regulatory challenges in the US and UK. On Tuesday, the companies asked the FTC to withdraw the case, which is due in August in its Administrative Court.
