Huawei has cut the official selling price of its Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) FSD (Full Self-Driving) like package by nearly 17 percent, which could have a significant impact on pricing in the sector, as the Chinese tech giant is seen as one of the strongest players in the smart driving space.

The standard price for a one-time purchase of Huawei’s ADS (Advanced Driving System) premium feature package is RMB 30,000 ($4,130) for the period from July 1 to December 31, down RMB 6,000, or 16.67 percent, from the previous RMB 36,000, Huawei announced yesterday.

Monthly or annual subscriptions to the software are unchanged at RMB 720 and RMB 7,200, respectively, according to a statement from Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions business unit.

Huawei ADS is similar to the Tesla FSD, enabling point-to-point assisted driving on highways and urban roads.

The latest ADS 3.0 was unveiled by Huawei at its intelligent vehicle solutions launch event on April 24, and along with it, Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions brand — Qian Kun.

In China, all Tesla vehicles come with free Basic Autopilot (BAP) software. Tesla offers Enhanced Autopilot (EAP), FSD software as an option, with EAP being half the price of FSD.

Tesla currently offers FSD to owners for a one-time fee of RMB 64,000, although the real FSD is not yet available in China.

Last month, local media quoted a Shanghai official as saying that Shanghai’s Nanhui New Town was facilitating a pilot of FSD for 10 Tesla vehicles.

Back to Huawei, this is the first time it has cut the official price of ADS, despite previously offering discounts.

A one-time purchase of Huawei’s ADS 2.0 costed RMB 18,000 on or before December 31, 2023, half the official guide price.

Late last year, Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business announced that the price for a one-time purchase of Huawei ADS 2.0 between January 1, 2024 and March 31, 2024 was RMB 26,000, which was RMB 10,000 less than the official guide price.
