Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.23% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Japanese stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in , and sectors dragged shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the lost 0.23%.

The best performers of the session on the were Rakuten Inc. (TYO:), which rose 7.53% or 44.00 points to trade at 628.00 at the close. In the meantime, CyberAgent Inc. (TYO:) added 3.33% or 28.50 points to finish at 885.10 and DIC Corp. (TYO:) was up 2.88% or 77.50 points at 2,771.50 in late trading.

The worst performers of the session were Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (TYO:), which fell 2.33% or 18.30 points to trade at 767.50 at the close. Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:) fell 2.02% or 25.00 points to end at 1,214.00 and Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (TYO:) was down 1.81% or 13.00 points at 706.00.

Declining stocks were 0-0 higher than rising ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The index, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.11% at 17.46.

Crude oil for February delivery fell 0.61% or 0.44 to $71.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery fell 0.10% or 0.08 to $77.07 a barrel, while February gold futures fell by 0.56% or 11.70 to trade at $2,071.80 per troy ounce.

USD/JPY was unchanged 0.00% at 141.04, while EUR/JPY was down 0.10% at 155.75.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.15% to 101.06.
