Indian Stocks Slide at Market Close; Nifty 50 Declines by 0.42% – Investing.com

Investing.com – Indian stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in , and sectors dragged shares lower.

At the close on the NSE, the lost 0.42%, while the index fell 0.50%.

The best performers of the session on the were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.21% or 149.20 points to trade at 6,910.10 at the close. In the meantime, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:) added 1.99% or 10.90 points to finish at 558.65 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:) was up 1.76% or 85.80 points at 4,950.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.07% or 5.70 points to trade at 270.05 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) fell 1.86% or 23.00 points to end at 1,213.10 and Eicher engines (NS:) was down 1.74% or 69.20 points at 3,919.20.

The best performances of the BSE Sensex 30 index went to Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.26% to a price of 6,916.00, NTPC Ltd (BO:) up 1.32% to 329.25 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.30. % to close at 3,667.00.

The worst performing stocks are Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which fell 2.07% to 270.00 at the close, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.99% to 1,211.15 and Wipro. Ltd (BO:) down 1.49% to 479.80 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Indian National Stock Exchange 1,536 to 679 and 39 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,457 fell and 1,357 rose, while 122 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.91% at 12.82.

Gold futures for April delivery rose 0.82%, or 17.75, to $2,194.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for May delivery fell 0.38% or 0.31 to $81.64 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.37%. or 0.32 to trade at $85.76 per barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.15% to 83.29, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 90.46.

U.S. dollar index futures fell 0.20% to 103.73.
