India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.05% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Indian stocks were higher after the close on Monday, with gains in , and sectors leading stocks higher.

At the close, the NSE gained 0.05%, while the index climbed 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the were Nestle India Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.98% or 792.10 points to trade at 27,372.40 at the close. In the meantime, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) added 2.40% or 68.25 points to end at 2,917.20 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) rose 2.29% or 23.50 points to 1,047 .85 at the end of the session.

The worst performers of the session were Eicher engines Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.54% or 105.15 points to trade at 4,038.35 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) fell 1.86% or 19.15 points to end at 1,013.05 and Mahindra and Mahindra (NS:) was down 1.51% or 26.10 points at 1,703.30.

The best performances of the BSE Sensex 30 index went to Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.94% to a price of 27,376.65, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) up 1.66%. at 1,293.75 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.29. % to close at 1,485.00.

The worst performing stocks were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) down 1.98% at 1,012.40 at the close, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.43% to 1,701.50 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) down 1.03% to 1,692.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outpaced falling ones on the Indian National Stock Exchange 1,378 to 740 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,440 rose and 1,324 fell, while 147 ended unchanged.

Gold futures for February delivery fell 0.56%, or 11.70, to $2,071.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for February delivery fell 0.61% or 0.44 to settle at $71.33 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0. .10% or 0.08 to trade at $77.07 per barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.01% to 83.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.30% to 92.14.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.15% to 101.06.
