Australian stocks end trading session with slight gain; S&P/ASX 200 increases by 0.07%: Investing.com

Investing.com – Australian shares were higher after the close on Monday, with gains in , and sectors leading stocks higher.

At the close in Sydney, the index rose 0.07%.

The best performers of the session on the were Appen Ltd. (ASX:), which rose 7.05% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Zip Co Ltd (ASX:) added 5.79% or 0.08 points to end at 1.37 and Iluka Resources Ltd (ASX:) rose 4.23% or 0.29 points to 7 .15 at the end of the session.

The worst performers of the session were Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:), which fell 7.38% or 1.11 points to trade at 13.94 at the close. EML Payments Ltd (ASX:) fell 5.56% or 0.07 points to end at 1.19 and Healius Ltd (ASX:) fell 4.76% or 0.06 points to 1.20.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange 651 to 526 with 321 ending unchanged.

Zip Co Ltd (ASX:) shares rose to a 52-week high, closing up 1.27%. up 5.79% or 0.08 to 1.37.

The index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.23% at 11.34.

Gold futures for April delivery fell 0.54%, or 11.60, to $2,149.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for May delivery rose 0.42% or 0.34 to $80.92 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.35%. or 0.30 to trade at $85.64 per barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.05% at 0.66, while AUD/JPY rose 0.14% to 97.89.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.03% to 103.09.
