Significant Nationwide Cellular Outages Reported by AT&T, Cricket Wireless, and Other Providers: What’s Behind the Disruptions?

Several major cellular service providers in the United States, including AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Verizon, and T-Mobile, are currently experiencing outages, according to data from Downdetector. AT&T, the largest carrier in the country with over 240 million subscribers, reported more than 64,000 outages in cities such as Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago. The outages began around 3:30 a.m. ET.

In response to the interruptions, AT&T issued a statement saying that they are working urgently to restore service to affected customers and advised the use of Wi-Fi calling until the issue is resolved. Cricket Wireless, a subsidiary of AT&T, also reported more than 13,000 outages. Verizon, another major carrier, had over 4,000 outages, while T-Mobile reported more than 1,900. Boost Mobile had approximately 700 outages.

Verizon clarified that its network is operating normally, but some customers were facing issues when making calls or sending texts to customers who use a different carrier. The company assured customers that they are monitoring the situation closely. T-Mobile, on the other hand, stated that it did not experience an outage and suggested that the reported challenges on Down Detector may be related to difficulties connecting to users on other networks.

As of now, there is no specific reason given for the outages. It is crucial for the affected service providers to resolve the issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted communication for their customers.
