Paychex addresses ‘reprioritization’ at company

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Hours after News 8 received multiple inquiries regarding possible layoffs at Paychex, the company confirmed with News 8 a “reprioritization” of the company.

A statement from a spokesperson says that this affects “one-half of one percent” of the employees in Rochester. Paychex has yet to respond to direct questions about how many jobs were affected.

Earlier this month, Paychex announced an increase in their quarterly dividend, adding up to $1.3 billion over the fiscal year that ends May 31, 2024.

More on the dividends:

$0.98 per share, an increase of $0.09 (or 10%) from the prior quarterly dividend of $0.89 per share, payable on May 30, 2024 to shareholders of record as of May 10, 2024.

We are continuously reprioritizing roles across our organization to best serve our customers’ needs. This reprioritization affected ½ of 1% of our employees in Rochester. At the same time, we currently have a number of open positions in the Rochester area to be filled.
