TerransForce Handle 5: New powerful gaming handheld showcased with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU, 50 Wh battery and 120 Hz display

Another relatively unknown company outside China is seeking to gain a slice of the burgeoning gaming market, with ASUS and Lenovo capitalising on the success of the Steam Deck this year alone. This time, TerransForce has released the Handle 5, which it has created in two variants, both with AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840U.

Thus, the TerransForce Handle 5 will likely mirror the performance of many other popular gaming handhelds, including the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. For reference, the Ryzen 7 7840U integrates eight Zen 4 CPU cores and an RDNA 3-based Radeon 780M iGPU. In our tests, the Ryzen 7 7840U has proven powerful enough to play modern triple-A titles in 1080p, albeit at low/medium graphics settings.

Additionally, the Handle 5 features LPDDR5 RAM, a PCIe 4.0 SSD, a 50 Wh battery and a 7-inch IPS display that outputs at 1080p in a 16:9 aspect ratio. According to TerransForce, the latter also delivers 450 nits peak brightness and 100% sRGB colour space coverage, as well as a 120 Hz refresh rate. While the TerransForce Handle 5 is not available yet, Minixpc has implied that it plans to sell the gaming handheld in the future, possibly for as little as US$650.
